Slovakia Business Mood Down, Consumer Mood up in Sep

Overall confidence in the Slovak economy did not change significantly month-on-month, despite its decline in industry, construction, and trade, data from the Slovak Statistical Office (SÚSR) showed on Thursday.
After seasonal adjustment, the confidence indicator in industry dropped by 6.6 points to -9.3 in September due to the decrease in the expected industrial production. The downturn was mainly influenced by the decline in the expected industrial production (-10 vs 22 in August), particularly in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products, transport equipment and chemicals and chemicals products.
Meanwhile, stocks of finished goods increased (6 vs 4), whereas prospects regarding selling prices improved significantly (2 vs -16).
Separate data showed that consumer confidence in the country rose to -19.7 in September from -21.1 in the previous month.
Expectations improved for general economic situation (-30.1 vs -32.8 in August), household financia l situations (-12 vs -12.8) and future household savings (-19.8 vs -20.2). Meanwhile, worries about unemployment also decreased (16.7 vs 18.4).
